Is original metal plate with ribbon cable required to preserve TouchID

I replaced the screen on my iPhone 6+, I did use my original home button, but touch ID no longer works.

I see there’s also a ribbon cable running along the back of the metal plate, connecting the home button to the board, which I didn’t keep. All I kept was the original home button. I figure I could keep that ribbon cable by using my old metal plate, which is quite easy, without needing to rip that cable off the metal plate. Is that the key to preserve touch ID? If yes, I’m gonna open my phone one more time and switch back the old metal plate.

Einstellungen

The original plate not required to preserve touchid however some bad quality long flex cables stop touchid from working so try transplanting the metal plate over to the new screen it should work as long as nothing got damaged along the way :)

I also forgot to to turn off the phone during the process. But I have rebooted several times afterwards. Could that be the reason? I read somewhere else that disconnecting home button while powered on could permanently disable touch ID? Is that the case on iPhone 6+ ?

That shouldnt make a difference to be honest unless u shorted anything it's more likely in my opinion the flex u have behind the metal plate is either damaged or faulty... we bought about 50 of them and they all arrived like that home button would work but touchid didn't.

Thanks!! I switched back my original back plate, and touch id is back!

Yeah some long home button cables just seem to be rubbish I think theyve maybe assumed people have already broken the original home button too so let's not bother even putting in the tracks for touchid lol I dont know but I had 50 scrap ones
