Maytag Frontload Washer MHW6630HC Water leakage soap dispenser

My Maytag Frontload washer is only 10 months old. I have noticed a puddle of water underneath the front left corner, usually when washing something bulky. It looks like the water leaks from behind the plastic cover underneath the soap dispenser. It’s not leaking from the dispenser opening, but somehow getting behind the plastic cover where you insert the soap dispenser. It doesn’t always leak, but the fact that it leaks from behind (not inside machine, it still dribbles down the side from behind the dispenser) and seems to be totally clean has me baffled. I thought perhaps the half inch water supply hoses might be too much, but I just can’t make sense if it. Has anyone experienced this before and is there an easy fix?

We have had the same issue with our new Maytag front loader and they have replaced the soap dispenser and hose but it still keeps leaking. They now have said they are unsure why it is doing it.

Hi @dancanc ,

Don’t know the answer but as it is only 10 months old and if you’ve had it from new, it should be still covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.

It may be better to get it checked under warranty than to open it up trying to find out why this is happening, thereby voiding the warranty, just in case something else goes wrong with it during the remainder of the warranty period.

Same issue here - see attached image - they have not replaced anything yet - but this was the diagnosis.

Also - possible water pressure too high - but it worked fine for 1 year and then just started happening. My dispenser is clean and not clogged. We will see.

Mine leaks when I pour detergent into the compartment. It leaks down the side of the machine.

The beach and softener do not do this, just the detergent area.

This is before the machine even turns on.

I had this same problem with my Maytag front loader so I turned down the water pressure at the washer inlet valves (both cold and hot) and the problem was solved. If your water pressure is too high it overflows the soap dispenser and drains out through the area just below the dispenser. The telltale sign is if there is water in the area around the dispenser when you pull it out to add soap, bleach, softener, etc.

Mine leaks when I put the liquid detergent, bleach, or liquid in the fabric softener areas.

It started doing this about a year ago. I've had this front loader for a little over 2 years. In the first year it was banging so hard when starting to spin, I called for service and the repair guy pulled it out from the wall and then said the reason was the metal stainless hoses were banging on the back of the washer(I say bs). It still bangs when starting to spin even now.

This machine can't have a large load as advertised, It doesn't hold a king size comforter well and doesn't really clean it.

I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER MAYTAG AS LONG AS I LIVE.

I'll save up my money and get a speed queen.
