So I just ordered a new top assembly and battery for my macbook. I used it just fine for a week, then my trackpad started sticking down. I had to open it up and pry the battery off from the middle a little to get it to click again, and even then, the action is a little sticky.
Was there some sort of cover I was supposed to put down to keep the trackpad from sticking to the battery?

Some of these Macs have a thin metal cover that prevents the battery from sticking to the trackpad. Check your old battery to see if it’s stuck there and did not get moved over.

Ah, I’ll dig the old one back out and look in a bit. Would the top assembly kit not come with that cover?
I've seen some models with the metal plate and some with just the black covering. This guide appears to be showing the covering see step #54 of this guide:

I have also seen them come in from other shops that replaced the battery with the covering missing and the battery was stuck to the trackpad. This apparently is an easy step to miss when an upper case gets rebuilt. The metal plate is usually stuck to the old battery.
