When I turn on the power it goes black, then after a min or so it says correct hard drive can't be found. I can't get to the recovery menu to try anything that way. I've tried unplugging the hd and plugging back in, still says same thing. ANY IDEAS?? PLEASE HELP!!

Sounds like a corrupt HDD. If you already tried to get to the restore menu by powering off your system, press and hold the power button (several seconds) when powering on. Hold until you hear a few beeps. Then after the system comes up, you should get prompted that the file system is corrupted and need to be restored. Now if this does not happen, I would think that you have a bad HDD. for more info on this. Good Luck.

I presume, your hard drive is SATA. I would try taking the hard drive out of the device it's in, connect to an external SATA bay and connect to your computer via USB. Once the computer recognize hard drive, you should be able to salvage your data then reformat.
You are also able to hear any defect of the drive while it is out it's host.
