Has the phone been dropped or gotten wet at all?

As a DIY repair all you can do is to open the phone and check that the display cable is securely connected to the systemboard and if so, then to temporarily replace the display assembly and check if there is a display or not, to prove whether the problem is in the display or the systemboard.

If it works with a replacement display assembly connected then this proves that the problem is in the original display assembly. Faulty display assemblies cannot be repaired, they have to be replaced.

Replacement display assemblies are available online. Just search for Galaxy Note 5 lcd screen and digitizer to find suppliers that suit you.
