My Samsung Tab A 8.0 (2017) was dropped by my nephew and I am trying to figure out if it is worth trying to fix. It is very distorted with various colors and unresponsive on the screen. Please see the attached image. Thank you!

The LCD screen is cracked (see image below) and needs to be replaced as it cannot be repaired.

Here’s a video showing the dis-assembly of the tablet. This will help you to replace the screen assembly.
Replacements are available online. Just search for Samsung SM-T380 LCD Display Touch Screen Digitizer Assembly to get results for suppliers of the part, that suit you best.
If doing this yourself seems too daunting, contact a reputable, professional mobile phone repair service and ask for a quote. You will already know the cost of the replacement part.
