updated speaker, now it wont turn on

So i thought i was doing the right thing with my UE boom 2 speaker and have applied a software update to it so that i could use it with the app. Unfortunately since doing so the speaker will no longer power on…. The bluetooth light stays on and thats it… Prior to the update the speaker was working perfectly, ive tried to reconnect it to try force the update again to try and rectify it, but it wont even register that the speaker is connected and the charge light no longer comes on when connected, but everything was working perfectly prior to the update, has my speaker bricked itself, is this common?
