New SSD slow to boot

Hello all, I have an Early 2014 MBA which came standard with a 128gb SDD. I wanted an upgrade, so I purchased a 480gb SSD from OWC, the Aura Pro X2. One thing I didn't like is the extremely slow boot time. 50 seconds to the login screen, FileVault is off and I already tried their suggestion of selecting the start up disk in system preferences. Once logged in, everything works great, apps are snappy and responsive.

I do know OWC has a web page stating that 2013-2014 Macs have slower boot times because they were initially shipped with AHCI SSD’s.

I was just wondering, other than purchasing a used AHCI SSD, are there any decent alternatives? TIA.

Sadly, there is no solution as the boot process first tries the AHCI interface and after a timer expires it then tries the NVMe driver.

It would have been nice for Apple to offer an option to bypass the AHCI services.

Interesting, Makes a lot of sense though. Ya, it would be nice of Apple to offer that, but Apple is Apple. Thanks for the reply.

I just purchased a Transcend drive, it's supposed to be AHCI. See how it goes.
