i bought this a month ago and the light doesn’t turn on anymore neither my mac can read the hard disk. i can hear the disk spinning but it doesn’t read…. could anyone help me. is there any way to reset it? …like in the older versions of it?

If it is unencrypted you can remove the casing and remove the controller card that is attached to the hard drive. If the issue is the controller card and you have a PC with an available spot to plug in the drive you can do that and it will appear as a new drive with your data. At that point get another external drive and copy the data to that.
The reason it has to be unencrypted for this to work is because the controller card’s encryption protocol is on one of its chips.
Q. Why not just swap the drive with a new myBook of the same model?
A. The encryption chip is different on each myBook for security.

When they added this BS in the past on the early drives, the same private key worked on all drives. I call BS unless someone has tried and each drive has a unique key per PCB.

First, it’s covered under warranty and I’d go that way before attempting a teardown.
