Hi,
When you say that it is not displaying anything, does this mean that the charging light does not turn on at all when you first connect the charger to the laptop?
If this is the case the first thing that you have to prove is if there is 20V DC appearing on the DC-In jack’s connection on the motherboard when the charger is connected to the laptop. Alternatively use an Ohmmeter to check for continuity through the jack.
If there isn’t, then it may be a problem with the DC-In jack.
If there is, then as the repairer stated there is a problem with the motherboard.
You will need to find the schematics for the motherboard so that you can trace the power supply circuit from the DC-In jack to the relative power mosfets that distribute the power around the circuit to make it work. Search online for (insert motherboard’s make and model number) schematic, to hopefully find them. (the motherboard make and model number is printed on the motherboard itself). Without the schematics, it will be very difficult to find the problem
If you know how to read schematic circuits and how to identify and test electronic components well and good, then you may be able to fix it. If not then leave it to the repairer as you may cause more damage by trying to fix it yourself.
Here’s the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop, taken from this webpage. This will help you to correctly open the laptop etc.
