Can I get a step by step to reapply thermal paste on the cpu .

Here’s the Ifixit Acer Nitro 5 AN515-53-55G9 repair guide.

These will help you to access the CPU and GPU so that the thermal paste can be refreshed.

Also check that the fans are clean of any dust and that the air vents are clear and unobstructed.

Firstly use the Battery replacement guide in the repair guide above, to see how to disconnect the battery from the motherboard.

Note:

You don’t have to remove the battery, simply disconnect it. The reason for this is that there is always power at some places on the motherboard, even when the laptop is off. The laptop’s power button is not a power isolating button. its function is to signal the motherboard’s IO chip what the user wants to do e.g. turn on turn off etc. You don’t want to create any electrical problems on the motherboard when using metal tools i.e. screwdrivers, to remove components and you accidentally slip. Physical damage to the components is of course different. ;-)

It is also advisable to wear an Anti-Static Wrist Strap connected to an earth point to prevent any ESD damage to the components that you may touch.

Once you have disconnected the battery use the fan replacement guide to get as far as removing the fans.

Here’s a video that shows how to apply the thermal paste to the CPU and GPU. Start at about 12:10 minutes into the video to see how to remove the heat sinks covering the CPU and GPU and then how to clean and apply the paste.

When completed, re-assemble the laptop in the reverse order to the above and reconnect the battery as late as possible before having to replace the back cover.
