My surface pro 4 has swollen and i can't replace it for the moment. I was wondering if i could keep on using it just with the power supply plugged, removing the battery.
If so, what special precautions should i take?

I can be wrong or right, if you did remove the battery then it is possible for it to run just by the power supply, I don’t think there should be any problems if the battery is removed but if you didn’t remove the battery then please be careful when removing it. remember i may be right or wrong

Hi.
Yes, I can confirm that the tablet works without a battery on the charger, I've tested it. BUT to do this you'll need to dismantle the tablet almost completely to remove it, following the very good but also very difficult ifixit tutorial here (in the language of your choice) => https://fr.ifixit.com/Tutoriel/Remplacem...
And it will then be a good idea to replace the battery with a new one, with the caveat that it's often difficult to find really new ones, even from ifixit (see my comments here):

Actually if you leave the central PCB of the battery in place, it will still work without the need to remove everything.... I have a problem with the touch capability but I still haven't troubleshooted whether it comes from this amateurish workaround or if I damaged the screen when opening the tablet.
