recover without power button?
is it possible to go to recovery mode without a power button?

Recovery yes, just not DFU.
Only problem is you need to hold the home/menu button before/as it starts to boot which will be a bit of a pain without the power key, best bet IMO [as long as it is not one of the original iphones where this would be a pain but rather a 3g/s or 4], take it apart, disconnect the battery, keep it disconnected for a bit to make sure it powers down then put it all back together, hold the home/menu button and plug it in so it powers on.
