Apple icon and then black screen once on charger after battery repair!

I followed the iFixit guide to replace the battery and force touch sensor on my Apple Watch series 5 44mm (stainless steel). I went to charge the watch this morning after reassembly and I saw the screen show an apple logo, then go blank, then another apple logo, and now it is consistently black. Can't reset it (with crown and power button). Any thoughts? I felt good about the repair, both the force touch and battery cables were pressed into their slots before putting the brackets back over each of them. The sticker on the display ribbons has two little side pieces which were unfortunately severed, but the display still works and the three display ribbons themselves are intact an in place.
