How to Fix PPT001 on M1?

I recently changed the top case of my macbook pro 13 M1.... A2338.. Now I have an X on my battery icon, its not charging, My microphone isnt working for some reason... Got on chat and call with apple support, We ran Diagnostics and I got Error code PPT001... They said i would have to take it to a certified repair place and gave me somewhere I can take it in... but its in another country... Is there is a way i can get pass this without having to travel to another country? i would really appreciate it.

I think Apple has serialized some of there parts. iFixit has seen transferring a 13" M2 MacBook Pro logic board into a 13" M1 MacBook Pro system which physically fits but the system won't run.

At this point if you can I would return the upper case to the seller and get your money back ASAP!

To fix your system I would access the Apple (real) self service site to get the part and the Apple repair manual

Top case with battery and keyboard

  • 661-18432 - Silver

2020 M1 13" MacBook Pro to follow the repair process.

Sadly, it will likely cost a bit more but you then have access to the needed tool to relink the serialization. Keep your paperwork as I'm sure something will come about on the serialization!

The link for the Apple self service site comes back as 403 forbidden.

Was https://www.selfservicerepair.com/home actually an Apple site? Is it gone?

@maccentric - it’s a real Apple site! I just double checked the link which is good! But! With that said some countries can’t access it and Apple hasn’t rolled out self service across the world yet either!

I’ll post a screen shot of the real site above 👆

Sounds like you need a new Logic Board.
