The car cut off on me and left me stranded twice I replaced the distributor it ran good for 2 weeks and then it did it again it would turn over but not all the way so we hit the starter with a hammer and it cranked but they say the starter is not bad do I need to change the ignition coil or the alternator

@nikopink the starter would not be the reason why your car would "cut off". There are plenty of reaasons why this could happen. From a bad fuel supply to bead ignition etc. I'd suggest to get the vehicle scanned. Take it to places like Auozone or similar (depends on your region) and get it scanned see if there are any codes that pop up. Otherwise you'll be spending lots of money on juist replacing parts.
