Is there a way to do a hard reset with replacing a piece of hardware?
I'm looking to hard reset my Apple Watch series 7 in anyway possible.

No, I'm trying to get rid of the activation lock on the watch because the original owner is not in contact with me anymore.

Sadly, Apple has two locks which you need to gain access. The first is the watches PIN so you can even turn on the watch (gain access to the apps) even still the iCloud lock which is tied to the owners iPhone stops you from truly gaining full access.
Basically, you need to try to get your money back as it’s likely stolen and the person who sold it to you scammed you. Until they remove it from their phone physically and within Bluetooth signal range of the watch.
You might be visited by the police or even the seller, as the watch is disclosing its GPS position from within FindMy app.
@Tony Foelsch you can’t. Only the owner the watch is locked to can remove it. Even apple won’t help you.
