What is GPIO_GRAPE_IRO_L on the Touch Connector responsible for?

I've got an Ipad with a ripped touch connector, all damaged pads I marked red in the image. Only pin 16 aka 23 is problematic. In the schematic it's listed as GPIO_GRAPE_IRO_L. Aside from trying to figure out how to fix/ bodge it, as there is no connected component near, with the connecting pin being in the middle of an IC and it's brother on the B side, what does this specific pin do? Is it redundant or maybe doesn't play a role for basic single finger touch and is only used for something like 3D touch?

I've never read a schematic before so I'm a bit clueless...

It's IRQ not IRO, should be interrupt request to notify the SoC for a touch event.

Hi Karl,

What you'll want to do is search the entire schematic for all occurrences of GPIO_GRAPE_IRQ_L. Once you have all the pages that signal appears on, it will tell us everything it's connected to and where. As Tom pointed out, that's actually Q rather than an O; the acronym IRQ is generally used to mean Interrupt Request; i.e., an interrupt signal to the processor to handle something immediately; in this case it appears to be related to a touch event.

As far as the physical location of where that trace runs on the board, the Gerber files are what is used to map the schematic to the board view files; if someone has access to the board view files for your iPad, they would be able to follow that line from the pad to wherever it ends up and reveal if there is anywhere else it pops up that you could potentially run a jumper wire to, like a via or another component pin. I don't have that information myself, but it's possible some of our other contributors do.

The connector is connected to U0652 (SOC: I/OS) and a testpad on side B.

No components in between.

I agree it would be really useful to see the trace, board view only shows (as far as I know) connected pins.
