The spring fell out but I am not sure where it goes back to?

You say, "the spring came out while cleaning it" . Were you taking it apart or just emptying the dirt cup? Is it possible the spring is from something else and you vacuumed it up? Is there some change in the way the vacuum works since you found the spring? A picture of the spring and some additional detail on how you found it might be helpful, too.
