Screen goes mostly black and then tv reboots

When I turn my tv on, everything works fine for a few seconds, then the screen goes mostly black and the tv reboots. I made these tests:

  • Only power supply board: the backlights are ok
  • Power supply and motherboard, with the ribbon cable disconnected: tv boots, backlight ok, no reboot
  • Power supply, motherboard and just one of the two long boards that are connected to the screen: as above

@francescos74811 this "just one of the two long boards that are connected to the screen: as above"does not show anywhere. We need to see what you mean by mostly black and then reboots. If it restarts that means that the TV gets a feedback from it. That would almost immediately rule out the backlights. From your Test it sounds like the power board is ok as well. You do want to go ahead and measure the voltages on the main board connector on the power board. Let us know what voltages your meter shows.

After you do all that, go back and while keeping all the ribbon cables connected, just separate the driver board (the two long boards) and post images of what your screen shows. Try the left driver board and then the right driver board.

Your pictures are clear but way to small to make anything pout. Even downloading them on trying to zoom in with my software does not work well. Post as large as size/resolution as it lets you

Update (06/20/23)

@francescos74811 by that I meant to isolate the driver boards. Carefully remove the ribbon cables that connect the boards. Then give it a try and see what it does.

Here is a picture of the screen when it goes black:

When you say: "Try the left driver board and then the right driver board." what do you mean? I can only test either both, or the one connected to the main board.

I read your update. I had already tried what you suggest, it's the third point in my original post. I powered the motherboard with the main ribbon cable connected, but the brown one disconnected. Therefore only one driver board was connected. The result is the same as the second point (only backlight, no reboot)

@francescos74811 does it fade from one side to the other or it just turns off the picture. If it does the first then it is most likely the driver board/panel error if it does do the latter, it could be a bad main board.

von

It just turns off the picture (just some color bands on the bottom remain, as in the picture).

If it is a bad main board, why does it work fine when the flat cable is disconnected? I can see the boot sound and no reboot happens.

von

@francescos74811 if it only works on side etc. it could be related to signal strength, bad voltage regulator, or just a bad component on a Single circuit, that gets bypassed when disconnected.

I just did the tape approach and was able to get rid of the black shadow and rebooting issue, now I will fine-tune it to try to make the little visible lines disappear from the screen..but, thank you for the videos and responses, they were pretty helpful. cheers.

I confirm that the tape method fixed the issue (don't know how). Sorry for not confirming earlier and thanks for the help @oldturkey03
