This phone was announced in September 2019 and released in October 2019. It was shipped with Android 9.0 and ColorOS 6.1. It was available in the colors, Mirror Black and Dazzling White.

The phone screen is totally blacked out. Is the LCD connecter loose?

I dropped my phone and it seems to be smashed quite badly. The whole screen came off and when I pushed the screen back into the phone, it was totally blacked out but it was vibrating ok, responding to charge and rebooting it while pressing on the on and volume button. I did some research and was wondering if it will fix it if I just replaced the screen? Or should I go and get someone professional to have a look at it just in case I cause more unnecessary damage to my phone. I'm not sure if the problem is in the screen or in the phone itself.

This is my phone now

Hi Amy,

As best I can tell, it looks like the flex cable that's supposed to connect the LCD to the phone is broken; I'm guessing it tore off at the point where it goes through the opening in the frame (that square in the frame on the right). Here's a picture of what the flex cable should look like on a new screen.

Unfortunately it's not possible to repair that cable, so your only real choice here is to replace the screen. From your description, I'm reasonably confident that all it needs is a new screen, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to get a professional opinion, especially if you can get one cheap or for free.

All of the written, step by step guides I know of describe replacing the screen only when it comes already mounted on the frame, but in your case it would seem to make more sense to just replace the LCD without the frame since the two parts are already separated. Make sure your frame isn't damaged or bent though; if it is you'll want to do the whole frame+screen assembly rather than just the screen.

Here's a YouTube video that looks fairly reasonable in terms of showing you how to replace your screen by itself.

Should your frame be damaged, you'll want to use this guide instead.

The screen itself seems to be readily available and pretty inexpensive; check sites like Amazon, eBay and AliExpress. Here's one that came up on a cursory search.

Good luck, Amy; you can do this! Let us know how it goes, and feel free to ask for help if you need it.

My OPPO mobile phone screen often moves itself, sometimes the screen taps itself even though I am not using it, this may be damaged because I once dropped it until the bottom screen on the right back

is my phone still repairable?

Hi Muhammad,

Sorry to take so long to get back to you, but it does sound as though the digitizer that handles touch input may have gotten damaged in the fall. It may be worth your time to try some software solutions such as restarting the phone and possibly even backing it up and doing a factory restore, but if that doesn't work the next step would definitely be to replace the screen.

If you have the same Oppo A5 (2020) as the original question, then you can use the instructions I posted in my previous answer; otherwise you'll need to let us know what phone you have and we can see about locating a guide for you.
