Alternative to Apple's $200 USB C Keyboard & Mouse

Got my first M1 iMac in sans keyboard and mouse and will need to get them for future repairs but want to use wired models so I can give keyboard commands. Do not want to pay Apples price of $200. Are there any suggestions?

Are you okay with models that have a USB transceiver, or do you REQUIRE a corded connection?

@shingle if you have worked on Macs, you quickly come to realize that wireless keyboards are not good for diagnostics.

Meanwhile I am using a USB C adapter

@mayer - I bought a Macally one https://www.amazon.com/small-usb-c-keybo... I wanted a smaller unit so my work space is not cluttered with a full sized unit. But a USB-A with an adapter also works!

@danj got a mouse you like? I used an adapter but they are cumbersome and I need to keep up with the times. Never did find an adapter for ADB keyboards or RJ11 (Mac+) :-)

@mayer - Sorry, still using a USB-A Logitech mouse with a USB-C adapter.

I mostly work on MacBook Pro’s so haven’t needed a new one yet.

I've always been happy with Logitech keyboards personally. My main beef with the Apple wireless external is the key travel and the cost to replace then they break. I DID have to use the warranty on Logitech once or twice, but it's been so long since then it's a blip when I had an issue.

Look into something like this: https://www.logitech.com/en-us/products/...

This is hybrid wireless using RF (not locked into being Bluetooth only; but it supports both; skip it for TSing and use a receiver), so bear that in mind; that said I've never had an issue forcing things if I hold the keys a little early to get the command going.

@diode_cool The operative word here is USB C

@mayer Oh geez. I'm sorry. Maybe you could use an adapter?
