Why is my screen brightness is all the way low after being water?

I had dropped my a bunch and i had a screen protector on, so i thought nothing. but when i took of my case i saw that it was really cracked and a part came off exposing the inside. now the problem, i was washing dishes with my phone plugged in to a charger. i was washing a big pot and it was filled with soapy water. i turned to grab a towel but my hand knocked the charger causing it to fall into the water. i grabbed it out quickly and got the water out of the speakers. i dont think i got it out of the charging port and it also had gotten into the exposed insides. i kept using it bc i thought it was fine until the sides looked like they were grayish and it slowly started spreading and my phone would glitch and shut off. now the brightness is all the way down, it would turn back up if iu had it all the way up. i can successfully put my password in just by memorizing where it is but the brightness is not rising. just some extra information, when it was on the camera looked foggy as if theres water in it, and it wouldnt record things.
