Will the rechargeable battery work in my Philips DCP850 37?

I have a similar (but cooler) device from Philips. It's the DCP850 37. It looks almost exactly like this model, but has a cool docking station to the right of the DVD 'lid' that accepts either the remote control when you want to store it.. or it takes my 60GB iPod Video. Then it can play any video files stored on the ipod or that you might have on an SD Card... it has slots for a few different kinds. sIt also has numerous inputs and outputs and came with a power cord and a 12v cord for the car. .. And it looks very much like it should run on battery power as well, but it does not.. The power button up front even has a "CHG" light that I guess does nothing. But maybe I could install this rechargeable battery in it. Like I said they look very similar. Any thoughts?

@terrymulla77798 you are correct. The Philips DCP850/37 is setup to function with a battery. Yours may just be to depleted to accept a charge and hence the "CHG" light will not light up, since your battery is not charging. Not sure if replacing your battery with one from a PET729/37 would be much better. The issue with this Philips device is that batteries seem not to be available. this seems to hold true for the PET729/37 as well. Som worst case scenario is, you would need to build your own battery. It is not as dangerous or complicated as you might think. Here is how to get to your battery.

Once you have your battery out, post some pictures of your battery etc. with your QUESTION. That way we can see what you see and hopefully guide you further.

While you work on your DVD player, take lots of pictures. Once you are done with it, take those pictures and create a guide for iFixit. That will help the next person that has the same problem as you do. It's easy and fun to create these guides. https://ifixit.com/Guide/new The iFixit community will appreciate this.
