Are the OLED thumbsticks compatible with the LCD?

I'm aware the boards inside the devices are different and you couldn't just switch out the module as a whole. I'm more wondering if you could just get the thumbstick itself off the OLED and solder the wire to the LCD module. I heard they improved the capacitive touch on the new model and would like to take advantage of that upgrade if possible.
