Where can I get a new hard drive?

I have an Acer Aspire E5-576 laptop. It says my hard drive health is at critical 21%. Can I get a replacement hard drive for this model anywhere? If so, what kind should I get?

If you don't mind me asking, where or what program were you using to see this information? Sometimes those can be a bit misleading, looks like this is a HDD so maybe a simple de-frag might do the job (at least get more life before it completely dies) make sure you backup your data NOW you can never be to sure.

If the laptop has an option for a solid state drive, you might be better with that instead of another HDD, but from what I found and read online it looks like it can accept a SSD and m.2 NVME but don't quote me on that, just what I see from a quick search at a glance.

It was Kaspersky that let me know my laptop is at 21%. I did do a defrag last night. Doesn't seem to be making any difference. I do have any important stuff backed up on several USB's, so that's not a problem. I don't have too much on my computer anyway. I can't find anywhere to buy a new Hard drive though. I looked on Amazon and didn't see anything compatible with my specific laptop . Does anyone know where you can find specific Hard drives for laptops?

Hi @justjulie

For a performance boost, replace the HDD in the laptop with a 1TB 2.5" sata SSD.

Here's a video that shows how to do this.

Most reputable SSD suppliers also provide cloning software along with the SSD (download link with password) allowing you to have a seamless upgrade by cloning the existing HDD to the SSD.

Search online for info regarding cloning if you're not sure.

What suppliers? I couldn't find anything online yet that's compatible with my specific laptop. Do you have any links for me to find what I need?

@justjulie

What is the full model number of the laptop?

What is the make and model number of the HDD in your laptop.

Best that I can find out is that an Acer Aspire E5 576 has a 1TB 2.5" sata 2 (3GB/s) 5400rpm HDD so unless it is a unique HDD used by Acer, then a standard 2.5" sata SSD should be able to replace it even if it is a sata 3 standard (6GB/s) as they are backward compatible but will work at the slower speed.

Most 2.5" sata SSDs have a thickness of 7mm, so I suppose there may be a problem if the HDD in your model is only 5mm which were produced for a short time only and are no longer made.

The only thing I know about the model number is it's an Acer Aspire E5-576

As for the HDD, I looked at the Kaspersky report that said my drive is at 21% critical, and it names a Toshiba MQO4ABF10019GPSJF7S for the drive

@justjulie

OK you're in luck

Looking at the Toshiba HDD model number you posted it is a 7mm HDD.

This means that most SSDs will physically fit into the HDD drive bay caddy - see video I linked.

The only caveat is that you ensure that you get a 2.5" SATA SSD and NOT an M.2 PCIe SSD.

Basically search online for 2.5" SATA III 2T SSD (supplier examples only for a 2T SSD 2T=2000GB)

Insert the desired capacity you want e.g. 2.5" 2T SATA III SSD 1TB or 2TB to find suppliers that suit you best.

There are larger capacity SSDs e.g. 4T but I don't know and can't find out if the laptop supports the larger capacity or not so that is why I suggested only a 2T as the maximum. You already have a 1T HDD so you know that it supports that capacity drive.

This article says I can use an M.2, so now I'm confused. I want to make sure I'm buying the correct SSD for my computer
