Without the exact model number I can't say for sure, but my initial impression is that your laptop may not have a CMOS battery; instead it relies on the main battery to maintain the CMOS settings. If that's the case, you are going to lose your CMOS settings every time you unplug the computer since you've removed the battery.
Be sure to edit your question and add your model number so we can verify that supposition, but in the meantime here's someone on the HP forum who had a similar problem and got the following answer.
HP 15dw series laptop has a CMOS error, there's no CMOS batt... - HP Support Community - 9272779

Follow the steps below to reset computer CMOS data.
1. Turn off the computer.
2. Press and hold the Windows and the V keys.
3. While still pressing those keys, press and hold down the Power button on the computer for 2-3 seconds.
4. Release all the keys.
5. At the completion of a successful CMOS reset, a message showing CMOS Reset (502) will be displayed.
6. Restart the computer.
7. Press F10 to get in to bios. Check Date and time.
8. Press F9 to set bios defaults. Ensure secure boot is enabled.
9. save setting when you exit
If you do not see that 502 message then :
- Turn on the computer by holding the power button down for 20 full seconds then release.
- Press the Power button one more time (if necessary) to start the computer.
- Tap the ESC key about once a second after you see the LEDs on the keyboard flash.
- Do steps 7-9 above
Okay, with the model number you provided, I was able to locate the service manual for your laptop.
Maintenance and Service Guide HP 15 Laptop PC
What I found is that your laptop does not have a CMOS battery to maintain the BIOS settings; rather it relies on the main battery to keep that information in memory. However, since you've removed the battery, the only thing that can hold the memory from disappearing is the power cord being plugged in. As such, every time you unplug the computer, you lose the CMOS memory and you are going to get that 504 Reset Occurred error. You will then have to reset the CMOS data, which will remain until you unplug the computer again.
There's really only one way to fix the problem, and that's to replace the battery. After that it will be able to maintain the CMOS memory and you will rarely see the error ever again. The service guide I linked to has instructions for replacing the battery.
