Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 14ARE05 Repair

The Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 was released on May 20, 2020 as part of the Flex series from Lenovo. At the time of its release it was an affordable option marketed towards people who work from home. It has 360 degree hinges that allow the screen to fold backwards to use as a tablet.

The Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5 has a few models with different ram, storage, and processor. This changes the cost from around $500 for the low end model to around $850 for the higher end model. One of the main draws of this laptop is the folding hinge touch screen that allows you to fold the screen a full 360 degrees, which unfortunately has been known to have manufacturer defects. The screen was a known defect to the manufacturer, that didn't properly acknowledge the defect and led to a class action lawsuit against the flex 5 series laptops.

Reviews about this laptop pick on its display even more saying its really dim (250 nits) and hard to see in any bright outdoor light. Critics also say that the screens colors are muted and testing showed a 54% sRGB. Despite these issues the compact size, good battery, and quality metals used on this laptop still make it a good daily driver for everyday tasks.

The laptop comes in three different colors, Graphite Grey, Light Teal, and Platinum grey. The laptop is approximately 12.5 by 8.5 inches, with a 14 inch screen. On the bottom of the laptop you can find a sticker that says "IdeaPad Flex 5 14ARE05" on it.
