First, see if the power adapter is properly plugged into the device. If this is not the issue turn off the device then unplug the power adapter and remove the battery. Once the device is turned off hold down the power button for 20 seconds to discharge all electricity. Plug the power adapter back in and check the indicator, if the device shows that it is charging then it is an issue with the battery. See our guide on how to replace your battery.
When the computer is unplugged from the power adapter, see if the battery loses its charge level quickly. If computer cannot power on when unconnected to power supply, the battery may be completely dead. In both these cases, the battery will need to be replaced.
RAM problems with your computer are causing usability issues.
If the performance of the computer freezes constantly, restarts randomly, and reboots immediately when first powered on, this is an issue with a faulty stick of RAM. Replace the RAM using our guide.
Laptop computer screen is black.
A laptop can over heat from excessive dust in the fan or vents. To fix it, carefully use a compressed air duster to blow away the dust in the fan or vents.
If your computer is on but the screen is black, you may have a system failure or corrupted files. Try restarting your computer first. If there are still problems with black screening, you may need to repair or restore the operating system through a recovery console. This is accessible with the operating installation disc.
If your laptop is under warranty, take it to a repair shop so they can fix it for you. If not under warranty, it can be difficult for you to replace and if not done right can cause further damage. Use our guide on how to replace the laptop screen.
No network connection available to connect to.
Check to make sure you are connected to the router without any warnings. If connected to the Wi-Fi router but no internet connection, check to make sure router is operating correctly. If the computer is not connecting to the router but the password is known, your Wi-Fi adapter most likely has incorrect settings. Use this page to correct your settings.
If the Wi-Fi selection screen does not popup, check to make sure Wi-Fi is turned on and not in airplane mode. If screen is unable to popup after turning on Wi-Fi, the adapter has a potential driver issue. See this page to diagnose and repair the driver issue to the correct wireless router.
Computer won't boot up properly and causing issues with starting up.
This is one of the more common problems. Make sure you have the right charger and that it is plugged into the outlet and the laptop. Many laptops have the same size and plug and if you aren’t using the one specifically for your laptop, it may have the wrong voltage or not enough current. If you don’t have the right charger or yours doesn’t work, you will need to purchase a new one.
If your computer won't boot from the drive that Windows is installed on, you may want to insert Windows installation or recovery media and run the startup repair operation. This should attempt to make Windows bootable again. If computer still continues to fail in booting up, follow our guide on how to replace your hard drive.
Keyboard is not allowing for any input
If your computer keyboard is having issues where some keys are sticking to the keyboard, you may want to use a spray with compressed air to clean the dust out from under the keys. Another way to clean the keys is using an industrial pipe cleaner with rubbing alcohol to clean to dust.
If the keyboard won't allow you to type anything, you may want to try cleaning out the keys with the proper cleaning method. If cleaning the keyboard does not help with being able to use, then it is an issue with the keyboard itself. Use our guide to help replace the keyboard.
