Laptop Overheating ¶
While in use, your device sometimes gets too hot and even shuts off without warning.
Fans not Functioning Properly ¶
Often a computer will overheat if it is not getting enough circulation to the components, this may be the result of fans not working properly or to their full potential. Try using a compressed air can to spray out your computer fans/vents. For a guide on how to replace the fan click here.
Lack of Thermal Paste ¶
A device such as this will contain an internal processor to help it function. This processor has it's own dedicated fan called a heat sink. Improper contact or a lack of thermal paste between the processor and the heat sink can cause the device to overheat as well as permanently damage your processor. To fix this, completely clean off all old thermal paste, apply new paste in the center of the processor, gently push the heat sink back into place and tighten the screws to lock it in.
Unresponsive Display Terminal ¶
Your device has a broken or cracked screen which causes it to not work properly or at all.
Screen is Cracked ¶
Unfortunately the only solution to an issue like this is to replace the screen to the device entirely.
Disconnected Internal Display Cable ¶
If there is no outside visible evidence as to why your device screen may be unresponsive, then you may have a disconnected internal display cable. In this instance, you will need to open up your device to adjust and reconnect (or possibly replace) the internal display cable/connector of your device.
Laptop Not Charging ¶
Your device will not charge while on, or perhaps is dead and you cannot get it to turn on possibly due to it being dead and the device will not charge properly or at all.
Bad Charging Cable/Adapter ¶
First, check to make sure your charging cable is plugged in correctly; to the outlet and to the charging port. Once the cable is plugged in correctly, check to see if the light on the charger is on, indicating that it should be charging. If the light is not on, try buying a new charging cable for your device.
Faulty Battery ¶
If everything you have tried indicates that your charging cable is not the problem and your device works only when the cable is plugged in but does not actually gain a charge, it is likely there is something wrong with the battery itself. You must then replace the battery with a guide that is provided by clicking here.
Keyboard Not Functioning ¶
The keys on the devices keyboard are either missing or not functioning properly
Keys Are Missing ¶
If you are missing keys on your keyboard, you must replace them.
Keys Are Stuck ¶
If the keys on your device are not working as a result of being stuck, it is likely that there is something underneath them keeping them from working properly. To fix this, you must remove the key and clean under and around it. A compressed air container may also be a nice way to clean excess off of your keyboard. Once you feel you have cleaned the area sufficiently, snap the key back into place.
Keyboard Not Functioning ¶
If you are not missing any keys and they do not appear to be stuck, but your keyboard is still not responding, you may need to replace the entire keyboard.
No Audio Output ¶
You have low quality or no sounds coming from your computer
Loose Headphone Jack ¶
If you are having audio issues only when using headphones, firstly make sure that the headphones are working properly on another device. If they headphones are not the problem, make sure that they are plugged in correctly. Often times it is simply that they are not plugged in all the way or they are loose, and this can cause audio to have static or to cut out entirely.
Out of Date Audio Driver ¶
Once you have determined that the headphones or the speakers are working properly, it may be determined that your audio driver software on your device is faulty or out of date. Simply perform an online search for your device “HP Pavilion 11 audio driver” and you can find the company page for your device where they will provide a download for an up-to-date driver for the audio based on your current operating system. Follow the prompts from this download and once finished your audio should be working properly.
Black/Blue Screen ¶
If your device will not boot up, or instead it takes you to an error page.
Not Enough/Bad Ram ¶
If when you are operating your device it tends to crash and take you to a blue screen and reboots, or if when you attempt to boot up your computer it just beeps and does not start or takes you to an error page, this may be the result of bad or not enough ram. The likely reason for this to happen is that some of your ram has gone bad. Whatever the case may be, if you do not have enough, or some of what you have has gone bad, you will need to replace/add some new ram to your device. Hard Drive Error ¶
If the case in your device is that your hard drive is malfunctioning, there are two options. Firstly, you can attempt to repair your device’s hard drive by inserting a version of the disc for the operating system you currently use on your device and follow the prompts to “Repair your computer.” If once you have finished the attempt to repair the issue with the disc, and the problem persists, it is unfortunate but you must then replace your hard drive.
