Make sure that you cool the laptop and do not block its vents while using it for long hours. If the computer is being used for long hours cool it by switching it off for sometime. If the laptop does not cool down, you may need to replace the fan. Do not run heavy programs that take up a lot of RAM (Random Access Memory) space on your computer. Running old software that is not compatible with your operating software can cause sluggish or poor performance too. Consuming a lot of hard disk space could slow down your performance, so please try to delete irrelevant data. Also scan your computer for potential viruses by using antivirus software and remove any viruses that you may find.
To download antivirus software, Google "antivirus software," click on one of the websites, and follow the directions from there, or download antivirus software from one of these recommended websites (Norton or TrendMicro). To replace the motherboard, follow this Guide.
No Sound from Internal Speakers or Headphones
Audio is distorted or nonexistent.
Faulty Headphones or Speakers
If audio is distorted, test the audio of the headphones and speakers with another device; the audio devices themselves may be faulty. To replace the speakers, follow this guide. In addition, check to ensure the audio jack is fully inserted into the computer and that the audio jack is inserted into the correct connector on the laptop; the headphone jack connector on the laptop will be marked with either a speaker icon or a headphones icon.
If there is no audio coming through, the laptop may have an outdated audio driver. To update the audio driver, open “Windows” and click on “Device Manager.” From there, select “Sound, Video, and Game Controllers,” and click “Update Driver Software” from the popup menu. If you would like to automatically receive updated driver software, you can select that from the next menu that pops up.
Windows has a Troubleshooting tool to utilize if updating the audio driver doesn’t solve the sound issue. Open “Windows” and type in “find and fix audio” into the Search function. Select either “Find and Fix Audio Playback Problems,” select the device you would like to troubleshoot, and make changes as the Troubleshooting page instructs.
WiFi not Registering or Connecting
Unable to connect to WiFi.
Faulty WiFi Modem
You should consider turning off the WIFI modem for about two minutes and then turn it on again. This should allow the device to cool down if it is heated. You should then try to turn on the device and try to connect your computer to it. If the device connects, your issue is resolved. If WiFi does not connect, try calling your Internet Services Provider, and ask them to check if there are any issues with the device.
Keys are not typing in correct characters or not typing at all.
If a key is stuck in the down position, gently insert a butter knife under the edge of the key and pop out the key from your keyboard. Take an alcohol swab or a Q-tip and gently clean the area under the key and the key-slot itself. Snap the key back into place. If multiple keys are malfunctioning, you may need to replace the keyboard. For instructions on how to replace the keyboard, follow this guide.
If everything you type shows up in capital letters check to make sure Number Lock, or Caps Lock, is not on. If Number Lock is on, simply press the Number Lock Key a second time to turn it off.
Keyboard Language Style Settings
Because each language has its own keyboard style, things may be organized differently compared to the US-English Style. One can change the keyboard style in Settings.
Display Bezels not working and Blank Screen
Display is not functional.
There is an issue with the drivers. The display drivers have become out of date and you need to download new drivers to remove the glitch. To download a new driver, select the "Start" button and then select "Device Manager." Search the name of your device, "HP Pavilion x360 m1-u001dx" and select "Update Driver."
