  • Here's that new Smart Connector in all its glue glory.

  • What's that? You want a cheap iPad, but you're holding back because you want to connect a Smart Keyboard? Well boy, howdy! Apple did just that.

  • There are no moving parts here, so you'll probably never need to worry about a Smart Connector replacement. But even if you did, this Smart Connector is actually pretty accessible by ordinary iPad standards.

  • Meanwhile, over on the logic board, we've got these goopy antenna cable sockets. What is the function of this new goop?

  • Speculation: corrosion protection, tamper-proofing, or simply a concession to the powerful goop lobby.

  • Cables aside, we bring the heat one last time to pry this sticky logic board free from its home.

  • Sticky logic boards, sticky logic boards, why must you stick? Every time we think of thee, thou makest us sick.

Was willst du jetzt eigentlich? Ein günstiges iPad? Oder eins, bei dem du ein Smart Keyboard anschließen kannst? Ach so, du willst BEIDES? Naja, Glück für dich, denn Apple hat genau so eins gerade rausgebracht.

Es gibt hier keine beweglichen Teile, so dass man den Smart Connector vermutlich nie austauschen muss. Aber selbst wenn, er wäre relativ leicht zugänglich, zumindest gemessen an dem, was wir sonst so von iPads gewohnt sind.

Auf dem Logic Board entdecken wir diese klebrigen Antennenkabelbuchsen. Wozu soll diese Pampe gut sein?

Wir spekulieren mal wild: Korrosionsschutz, Schutz gegen unautorisiertes Eindringen oder einfach ein Zugeständnis an die mächtige Kleber-Lobby?

So, alle Kabel sind jetzt weg und wir nutzen ein letztes Mal Wärme, um dieses klebrige Logic Board aus seinem Gefängnis zu befreien.

Logic Board, Logic Board, du musst kleben, bist für uns nicht mehr zu heben. Das ist nicht schön, das ist nicht schön, Logic Board, lass dich nur nicht verkleben!
