When replacing the bottom case I thought I'd upgrade the airport card to the "n" for faster response time. Is there a driver that I don't have as I'm not able to pickup any wireless signal now and there are no wireless choices ie. wireless network is not working.

click on apple/about this mac/check in network, airport....does it list your airport card?

Do as Jeff suggested to see if the computer can detect the card, if not, try going back through the installation and making sure it's properly connected.

After some research, I learned that the logic board for the core duo MacBook does not recognize the 802.11n but there is a workaround-You have to install the software for the airport extreme base wireless unit into the laptop-I did this via apple's website. The computer needed to be restarted and "voila" the wireless signal was picked up automatically and I was in business. It took a while and some help from my more tech savvy son-in-law but we got it done.
Great that this worked and good job figuring it out yourself! Since you have an answer you should answer your own question and then accept that answer.

Can you give us a part number for the card and where it came from?

Ok Thanks. Just to back track a little: Yes, I did as Jeff suggested ie, checked to see if the airport card had been accepted by the machine and it had which is why I kept pursuing a software fix. Since IFIXIT suggests that the 802.11n is an upgrade for the 802.11g I new there was a fix somewhere. Anyway, after following the instructions on ifixit and keeping all of those little screws organized in small sandwich bags with the step numbered on the front with a sharpie, the bottom case replacement with an upgradedairport card and upgraded (8x) DVD superdrive was successful. So I figure I got about $700 in upgrades if I would have had the apple store guys do the work for about $150 or so. This site is invaluable! Thank you IFIXIT!

I'm a little messed up answering questions and adding comments but to answer mayer's question from 3 days ago: I got the airport card off of ebay (used) (card # is 802.11n) is the one that IFIXIT recommends as an upgrade for the older coreduo's which I have. You have to be a little careful here as some cards have 3 antennae hookups vice the two that the coreduo's and later models have. Anyway, mine screwed right in without issue and I do notice a difference in wireless connectivity speed over the original 802.11(g). Just as an added note: After cleaning the old heatsink goop off the tops of the processors
and replacing it with the new goop that IFIXIT sent, the laptop is running cooler which I hope translates into longer processor and logic board life.
