2012 New iMac support DDR3 1866 RAM?

Hi

I am wondering if Ifixit would have a guide on New 2012 IMac 27" and is this IMac support DDR3 1866 RAM. Could I buy an IMac 27" without fusion drive and buy a larger SSD to put it on from a third party? Will the fusion drive work that way? and also the hard drive will be replaceable for a larger one from third party too?

Thanks for answering my question. Always support Ifixit

If you check in intel's web site you will find out that you can upgrade ram only to 1600MHz. Also you can put larger SSD and larger HDD and still work perfectly.

Do you mean the 3rd Generation I7 not support DDR 1866 at all? 27" can replace the mSATA SSD too?

von

Intel says thath it doesn't suppeort 1866 some motherboards by changing settings from the BIOS it can support them but not on iMac, for the mSATA SSD you can replace it.

No, the new iMac's don't use mSATA SSD's they are using the Apple custom SSD's the MacBook Pro Retina use (in 2.9 GHz and 3.1 GHz models only).

I recently put 1866Mhz cl11 memory into my late 2012 iMac 27'' i5. Works fine, just at 1600.
