Upgrading MacBook Pro logic board

Hi,

I'm thinking of upgrading my logic board.

Apart from the battery was there anything else that needed replacing/upgrading due to incompatibility? -- Memory is an obvious candidate. How about the airport card?

@Sameul - The original poster was working with a 13" MacBook Pro which did have major changes.

The 15" MacBook Pro 2010, 2011 & 2012 all have seen only slight alterations mostly the CPU was updated across these.

Here's the IFIXIT guides for these: MacBook Pro 15" Unibody carefully review each logic board between your system and the one you want to get.

Make sure the connectors are in the same location as well as the mounting studs. There are a few that the studs & fans are not exactly at the same location which prevents you on using that logic bd.

I strongly recommend you stick within the series your system is part of, these are the same.

Thanks Dan, I thought as much. I am still looking/waiting to procure a fast and reasonably priced i7 2012 logic board - the cost of which (not discounting a RAM and battery upgrade) will dictate whether I proceed or not. The upgrade will leapfrog my laptop by 2 years but ultimately I will end up with a 3 (going on 4 ) year old system.
