@stevec vertical lines can be caused by a bad T-con board as well as a bad panel. It will help if you can give us the make and model of your TV. Post some images of what you see with your question. For that use this guide. The actual repair on most modern Televisions is not difficult, it is the trouble shooting and error finding that is most difficult.

Maybe you should get a new one

It is very hard to dismantle a TV, especially a flat screen.
Take it to the place you bought it and ask for a refund.

Zach luc, really? I beg to differ and bet it is easier than repairing an iPod Nano :-) Be selective when making general statements like that.

Actually, no.
Flat Screens are very hard as i have tried before.

I probably repaired a couple of dozens of those and have not had any issues with that. You may want to review your technique.
