Number of RAM slots, SSD modules and Thunderbolt data paths

1) How many RAM slots are there ?

2) Is the SSD made from 2 modules such as 2x512GB, 2x1TB and 2x2TB ?

3) How many Thunderbolt data paths are provides with the four Thunderbolt 3 ports ? (much like on the MacPro6,1 which has three data paths each having two ports)

The SSD is comprised of two modules. They are removable, but are paired to the original logic board and data won't be accessible if moved to another iMac Pro logic board. If either SSD card fails or if the logic board needs replacement, the data on the drives will be lost. I suspect this pairing aspect will make third party replacement difficult or even impossible.

The system has two Thunderbolt controllers, each supporting two ports. Each controller is connected via PCIe 3.0 x4. Unlike the MacPro6,1, the PCIe doesn't run through a PCIe sharing switch to split the path.

Some other interesting tidbits are that the Vega GPU is integrated into the logic board and the system power supply is a 500 watt.

While we all want to know the nitty gritty of the system. I would hold off until the great IFIXIT teardown team gives us the unvarnished truth!

Thank you Andrew.

Dan: Yes, when iFixit does a tear-down it will be all very revealing.

Thanks. As I've ordered 128 GB RAM for my CTO iMac Pro I will assume each slot is populated with a 32 GB module.

Damm sorry for this barry, but as i know, the rams that use the imac pro is ECC

von

@masterg The question was about slot's number, not about RAM's type)

Well, type is DDR4 ECC 2666 GHz (probably, Samsung).

Form-factor is DIMM (desktop-type), not SO-DIMM (laptop-type) used in all previous models.

von

I should clarify... my 128GB RAM order was part of my order with Apple for the new iMac Pro. So the 4x 32GB modules will be Apple provided RAM.
