Wifi card is not available in device manager

I wonder if I should replace the audio board or replace the mother board of this yoga pro 2 to solve this issue.

This is the error information I get from device manager.

Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer.

Is it possible to add a new wifi card after replacing the default one? My network is dropping and having a connection issue. I think it is faulty with my PCI card.

Hi,

Are you having Audio problems or WiFi problems?

If WiFi

Why would you replace the audio card for a potential WiFi card problem?

Have you tried pressing F7 to disable Airplane mode and see if this enables the WiFi?

Check Network configuration page (Settings > Network) to ensure the Wi-Fi switch on the Network configuration page is toggled to On

Check in BIOS to see if there is an enable/disable setting for the WLAN.

If all these are OK then here is a link to the ifixit Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Wireless Card Replacement guide. to check if the WiFi card is seated properly into the connector.

Be careful when you do this as the battery is still connected to the systemboard. DO NOT slip with any metal tools that you may use.

To be safe disconnect the battery first. You don't have to remove it just disconnect it.

If it seems OK the WiFi card may be faulty. The card information should be printed on the card. Search online for suppliers of a replacement card

That board is called audio board (90004972 VIUU3 Audio Board ).

I personally call it usb/wifi board. If you click the http link I posted and read through it, you will understand what I mean.

Not in airplane mode.

BIOS, check, enabled wifi.

replace wifi card, done, doesn't help (off course, disconnect battery to do that).

Only WIFI has problem, audio is OK. Bluetooth seems off as well. Windows 10 Home 64bit version.

P.S. It seems you are not sure what situation I am.

Hi,

OK I may be confused.

Where are you looking for the WiFi adapter in Device Manager?

It should be under under Network Adapters. (or check for it in 'hidden devices' -click on View tab)

The audio board should be listed under Sound, Video and Game controllers

According to the service manual for your laptop (see p.62 item #11) the part number for the WLAN/BT card is 20200409 (a search online using this number gives this result. There are others this is only an example which shows that it matches the description in the manual.

Your part number 90004972 IS the audio board not the WiFi board So, OK apologies I got it wrong. The audio board is a separate board like you said.

I still believe that you have a WiFi /BT (on the same board) board problem that you should look at or perhaps a PCIe or slot problem, where the board plugs into.

Are there any PCIe settings in BIOS?

Have you checked for any BIOS updates or drivers for the actual systemboard (especially for Win 10?

What happens if you unplug the sound card and restart the laptop, does the wifi appear in Device Manager?

The wifi/bluetooth card connect to the audio board and then the audio board connect to the motherboard. I have purchased a new wifi/bluetooth dual channel wifi cards as most people would like to upgrade with this laptop. But there is nothing happens.

Initially, the wifi card is hidden under Network Adapters in Device manager, but after so long a time (one or two years). It's no longer available there.

So I start to suspect that I need to replace the audio board. I have removed the audio board and then re-install it (as I mentioned the wifi card is connected to this audio board). There is still no wifi device available in Device manager.

I will try your other suggestions.

I finally purchase the audio board and also replace a new wifi card. It works so far.

Right click on battery icon to get power option, in power options window ,click on “choose what closing the lid does “, it will take you to power option , here click on “ change settings that are currently not available” after this , uncheck the “ Turn on Fast start up” and then save changes
