Its basically that. I have this Sony Cyber-Shot from Japan. The whole system is in Japanese. I cant understand anything. Can I 'translate' it? By firmware or any way? How? Thanks in advanced!

Install GUI version. After installed and camera is connected to USB go to tweaks and you can allow all languages on Japanese version Cameras.

My wife bought this $750 camera in Tokyo and assumed we would be able to switch it to English when she got home. I could not find the English language setting in the menu. She did a search of Japanese websites and they all stated this was a Japanese only version of this camera; it was not the international version. She was very sad to read this.
This application worked perfectly! First click the tweak tab, second, click the Disable Protection check box at the bottom, third click Enable All Languages check box. Done.
Changing to other languages is now enabled in the camera menu. In the camera you still need to be able to read enough Japanese to find the change language to English setting.
Very useful, used on my Sony WX350, japanese language only. Small comment: charge the battery first :-). In order to enable all languages, first has to be enabled 5th box (software unlock, I think).

Almost! I can go until 'Main Settings' by following the little pictures icons. From there, I have no idea, since everything is in Japanese writing (kanji). Can you be a little bit more specific? Thank you so much!

Persistent rumor has it that cameras intended for the domestic market won't have English as an option.
Did you buy this camera in Japan, or online from Japan? If you did, unfortunately there’s no good chance of changing the settings to English. I doubt they would have different settings for the same company though.
Anyway, you can just check out the Sony community for some possible solutions.

I wanted to buy the ZV-E10 but unfortunately I became aware at the shop that you cant change the language could someone know if running this firmware it could be possible to do so?
Also ive heard that this firmware does not work with all sony cameras
if so someone can recommend me some like this model?

@laurencekr84986 try the same as directed in the original answer. Here is a video of pretty much the same way.
Had the same problem some years ago. There is no switch in the menu to change the language to another than Japanese. The reason that there is no way to change the language is the software of those cameras which are build to be sold in Japan only. You need to update the software to an international release. There are programs avalable to do that. Can't recall the name but it was easy to find and fix it. Greetings from Germany, Jens

Many thanks for the suggestion, but I solved it myself with an Intermediate Cam/iPhone Translator/Photoshop for Print personal instruction manual. That's fine, the camera is nice, and I saved €1,000 by buying it on eBay, even though I didn't know about the Japanese language only model. I think initializing the software update could be dangerous, so I'll settle for the Japanese-forever.... Best regards

File wouldn't open on my Win 10 pc. After may tries the win gui file opened but when I clicked on the tweaks tab it could not find my Sony camera. I connected and reconnected the camera several times.
