My wireless connection keeps cutting out between the controller and co

I regularly maintain and modify my xbox one controller whenever it needs it. However I had to replace the bottom motherboard recently because of some botched soldier work I did trying to replace one of the thumb sticks. I bought a replacement already made up. But since then the wireless connections between the console and controller keeps cutting out depending on the line of sight between the two devices. My knowledge of electronics is very limited. But I know enough for maintenance. Does anyone know what I may have done wrong and how to rectify it. I'd be grateful if anything could help.
