Who sells quality reconditioned logic boards for MacBook Pros>

I have a Macbook Pro mid-2009 13 inch that won’t start. I had my local Apple dealer assess it and they said the logic board is toast. They did not provide details on what components on the board were fried. How can I test it at home to verify this assessment and maybe get a little more specific?

I live in BC, Canada. If I need a new board, where in Canada can I find a reputable repair shop that sells reconditioned logic boards or fixes them? Do I send in just the board or the whole laptop?

Are you sure the systems battery is good? Also what does the MagSafe charger telling you Amber or Green. Do you have the needed tools to open your system and game to fix your own system?

If you truly need a new logic board, I don’t know of anyone in Canada ;-{ Here’s the info you’ll need to find a replacement logic board:

  • 2.26 GHz Apple P/N 661-5230
  • 2.26 GHz Apple P/N 661-5231

Sadly, your systems logic board are hard to find, I looked at the sites I use and I don’t find any that have either board. So you are limited the the Jobbers which hang out on the Amazon & eBay market places hoping you can find one. Make sure you use a pre-paid credit card and if you can get one that offers product protection.

Thank you, Dan. I will follow the test and fix tips posted in this forum for 2009 Macbook Pros that don't boot, I have a newer, fully charged battery that I can install and will check the green and orange MagSafe lights. I will post the test results in a few days. - Richard
