How to remove a GE Profile Countertop Microwave door PES7227SSLS

Hello! Despite many Youtube videos, I am unable to get my GE microwave door off. Info so far suggests I should be able to just lift it off, or maybe push down some mysterious clip just inside the door hinge area and then remove it. I can't see anything in the hinge area that looks like it could be pushed down despite poking around with a flathead screwdriver in the latch area, and just pulling up on the door hasn't dislodged it. Can anyone advise? Thanks :-)

I think microwave ovens aren't diy friendly for removing doors. This may be a safety issue if easy removal leads to microwaves leaking out and causing injury. Tried searching youtube videos for door removal?

Based on the microwave repairs I've done in the past, you generally have to take off the inner panel of the door in order to remove it from the cabinet. According to an article on husker.com, GE Profile microwave doors do come off easily once you have the inner panel off. Supposedly you just have to insert a thin blade and pop the catches around the outside of the panel and it should just pull off. Once it's out, that frees up the hinges to simply lift up and come off.

Hopefully it's just that easy. Here's a link to the article.

If it doesn't pry off fairly easily, look closely for screws holding it on; they may be hidden under plastic plugs or not.

Hi Jerry, thanks so much for taking the time to answer. I had hoped to avoid prying off the plastic trim- in my experience it's easy to damage the trim or the clips. I did see that video on Husker and since every other video showed the door being lifted off the hinges, I had hoped for such a solution. I ended up unscrewing the hinge body from the main body vs just removing the door from the hinge. Hopefully when I go to reassemble it, all is easy. Thanks again for taking the time to reply!
