Screen touch after glass replacement?

While it is possible to replace just the front glass, that doesn't address the problems with the digitizer you're having, as the two parts are separate. In addition, doing so requires special equipment and skills so as not to damage the OLED display, and a laminating machine is needed to bond the new glass to the LCD. Suffice to say that front glass replacement is beyond the capabilities of us home DIYers.

So that leaves us with replacing the screen assembly, and there you have two choices, with or without a frame attached.

The LCDs that come with the frame requires you to transfer all of the internal parts of the phone to the new frame, so it ends up being a lot of work.

With the ones that don't come with a frame, you have to carefully separate the old LCD from the existing frame and glue the new screen to the frame. It's a bit harder to get the old screen off, but you don't have to do all the parts transferring involved in replacing a frame.

Either way, there are guides available here on iFixit that will step you through the process from beginning to end. In order to replace it you'll need the model number, as there appear to be two different screens depending on whether it's a Verizon model or not.
