battery compartment smells burnt and controller won't turn on
The battery compartment smells like matches and when the batteries are in it does not turn on.
Ist dies eine gute Frage?

You may have used AA batteries that were too powerful because a wireless xbox controller calls for 2 AA 5V. There are some AA batteries that are 10V they are very hard to find and most people are so used to AA batteries being 5V that they just grab the first AA batteries they see so you may have been unlucky and been the one person that grabbed the 10V ones instead.
I know all this because I had the same problem with mine I had to get a new one because it was just cheaper to do that
It fried the power circuit

@chicken_butt Could you take some good, close up pictures of the battery compartment and update your question? Adding images to existing questions. The more information you provide, the easier we can help.
Have you had leaking batteries in there? The batteries themselves have nowhere near enough power to “burn”.

If you've already disassembled the controller, posting photos of the motherboard could be useful too. If there's no visible corrosion inside the battery compartment, the next place I'd look is closer at the main PCBs for any damage there.
