Hi Annie,

We'll need the model number of your microwave before we can give you specific information on parts and their locations, but I can give you some general information applicable no matter which one you have.

Most microwaves I've seen use a piezoelectric speaker or buzzer to make sounds. It's a pretty standard part so I doubt it'll be hard to find a replacement. Anyway, those speakers are generally pretty reliable, but like anything else they can fail. First thing I'd do is to take a look at yours.

You'll have to located it first; generally it's going to be on the circuit board that is behind the control panel. Here's a generic photo of what you're looking for; I've marked the speaker with a red box.

On this example the speaker is mounted perpendicular to the circuit board; other models may have it mounted flat, but it will look similar either way. If you're handy with a soldering iron you could remove it and dunk it in a bowl of 90% or higher concentration isopropyl alcohol to clean it out; otherwise clean it as best you can, maybe a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol followed by blowing it out with compressed air.

If that doesn't help, you may have to replace it. Again, we can't give you correct information without knowing the model number, but if you do a search on places like Amazon, eBay or AliExpress, you can probably find one that will work.
