My mixer has not been used recently. When i checked it, there was a pool of grease on the bowl, coming from the drip ring. Why is this happening, and how to resolve it?

If I'm not mistaken this is a fairly common issue with just about every model of KitchenAid stand mixer. This fine gentleman has plenty of guides on how to repair yours. If you don't feel comfortable, I believe he does offer mail-in services and he'll fix it for you.
