Display is working at only at about 60 degrees angle.

On my Macbook Air 2018, the display goes entirely blank when i pull the lid to a normal viewing angle of 90 degrees. But the laptop is working as I can see the keyboard lights as well as listen to any background music being played. Surprisingly, if i lift the screen till about 60 degrees it works. I took it to the apple service centre and they say the entire display module has to be changed, they said the eDP connector looks fine.

A third party repair shop guy says it's a flexcable issue. Is this really a flexcable issue? Should I ask the apple service centre guys to check the flexcable? Or, is the flexcable just another name for eDP cable?

This can be a bit confusing! There are five cables. The eDP cable only jumps across from the main logic board to the T-CON board which is that flopping circuit board which has four cables. The two larger cables are the LCD driver fanout from the T-CON. One of the smaller ones is your backlight power feed and the other is the camera connection.

Chech out the middle image in Step 10 here MacBook Air (13 Zoll, Retina Display, Ende 2018) Display tauschen where you can see the five cables.

Sadly, your backlight cable has been damaged which is why the display needs replacing. It’s these four cables which are flexing every time you open and close the lid. Sometimes a good bang along the edge can damage things as well.
