Grinding noise during wash cycle

Looking for advice on a potential fix. Washer drains fine, does spin cycle fine, but the wash cycle it grinds, periodically spins, and sometimes a burning smell so we shut if off. Any help greatly appreciated

Reading some other issues from owners of Maytag Washers, the problem might be related to the agitator actuator and the motor mounting bolt.

  1. Agitator Actuator: If the actuator isn't functioning correctly, it can lead to unusual noises and issues during the wash cycle
  2. Motor Mounting Bolt: If this bolt has stripped itself or has too much play, it can affect the actuator's performance and lead to strange noises
