Has anyone worked on this yet?

My fiancee has several items from the SPHERO brand and the R2D2 is one of them. After trying to take it apart to fix it she ended up demolishing it. The company ended up giving her a new one to replace it. Has anyone tried to repair this yet, and if so, what was the solution to taking it apart?
