Successful First-time iPhone 6 Battery Replacement

The OEM battery had been reduced to less than 30% capacity and Apple refused to service the phone stating this was normal decline in battery life.

Meine Reparatur

Everything went well, with the one exception that I could not remove one of the 5 screws securing the cover over the display cable. Attempting to unscrew it with the iFixit-supplied screwdriver may have slightly stripped the screw. Ultimately had to remove and replace the battery without fully removing the display, but it all went smoothy after that.

Mein Rat

Be patient with the battery adhesive. Despite the iFixit instructions I found it MUCH more productive to pull the adhesive only toward the bottom of the unit without moving to either side. You just have to give it time to loosen on its own while applying constant force to maintain tension, but it will come out and you won't have to use an iOpener or a hairdryer.
